Fighting Machines

Fighting machines are infantry-sized robots used for military purpose. Each of these robots serve a difference on the battlefield.

Advanced Combat Robot (ACR)

Started as a UNF prototype on Giale, Seph used its design to build an amry. When Seph took over the planet UNF lost the design to this combat robot completely.

Ball Droid

The Ball Droid is conceived by Seph as a fast infantry and vehicle inceptor. With a top speed of seventy miles per hour, it is the fastest unit in Seph's army.

A video camera mountedon top with advanced computer vision algorithm can detect multiple threats even when rolling at full speed. Laser cannons mounted on retractable arms serve to destroy armored tanks. Beneath the laser cannons are laser guns for anti-infantry.

Fido Droid

The Fido Droid came out of Seph's android factory first. They are the worker drones that helped Seph bring all of the inactive facility back online. They are not programmed for combat and are generally not equipped with weapons. But they can wield hand-held weapons when necessary. Due to the thinness of the robot, there is actually -2 penalty to hit when targeting a Fido Droid.

First, Second, Third, and Fourth Variety Robots

As result of Febians' fully automated robot factories, new human-like robot designs were introduced by the artificial intelligence of the robot factories. These human-like robots has artifical intelligent brains of their own and can carry out task independently from one another. Unlike "The Claws" that are designed by the Febians, these human-like robots are lead-lined, therefore do not sense the Radiation Tab friend-or-foe identification. These robots will attempt to eradicate all life-forms. And they may eliminate one another in the process to gain the trust of person of interest.

The first variety is in a wounded soldier guise. It attempts to gain sympathy from human soldiers. The second variety is disguised as a young adult female named "Tasso". The third variety is made to look like a boy with a teddy bear. The boy is named "David Edward Derring". The teddy bear itself is a killing machine. The fourth variety is a non-wounded soldier named "Klaus".

Read Second Variety Killing Machine short story for more backgrounds about these fighting machines.

Leady

Leady is a informal name given to robots of the Sutra colony, because they are lined with lead to protect against radiation. There are several classes of Leady robots. The very original D-class Leadys are purely worker robots. Their original intent was to help the colonists establish a solid colony on Syra. They were given very limited artificial intelligence, purely to perform work duties.

After the Sutra colony was established, B-class Leadys were build for general defense of the colony and to supplement the Arkedine Preservation Army (APA). These B-class Leadys are military guards and possesses limited artificial intelligence to fight a war.

Soon after, the A-class Leadys are build with complex artificial intelligence that can think close to human's ability to reason. Their purpose was to provide strategic war planning and leading the Leady army in case of the necessity of human evacuation and seclusion.

The A-class and B-class Leadys only has the ability to wield Bender Pistols, Leady Assult Rifles, and club-like weapons--bats, batons, etc. The D-class Leadys, on the other hand, has human-like hands, which can wield any human tools.

Read The Defenders short story for more backgrounds about the Leady.

Lifeform Exterminators

Invented as an accident, these robots killed its inventors and almost everyone in its party (see Survival Tactics short story for details). The original invention intended for these robots to automatically hunt and exterminate animals surrounding a new colony. The robots track and hunt by homing in on animals' mind impulses. However, Pete, the original inventor, failed to realize that all lifeforms, including human beings, have mind impulses.

After the incident, news of the catastrophy spread and the generals of the Arkedine Preservation Army (APA) thought the ingenuinity of the invention might come in handy one day, as long as it is deployed correctly. APA arrived at the new colony shortly after and confiscated all of the robots and the computer brain.

The robots are actually controlled by a centralized computer system. This computer "brain" is responsible for communicating with all of the robots. Each robot has built-in animal tracking system. The data is sent back to the "brain" over radio wave. Once the brain has received the data, it analyzes the data, makes decisions, and commands the robots based on its decisions.

Actions: 1
Speed: 30 MPH

Toughness
  Arms: 5 daDP each
  Body: 10 daDP
  Head: 2 daDP

Static from energy weapons, including its own blaster, cause it to lose communication with the central computer. This interruption causes the robot to malfunction for ten seconds.

Lutian Automatic Mine

Designed and deployed by the Lutian, on the planet Syra, these automatic mines looks like a hockey puck and hovers just an inch off the ground. It pursues anything that moves. When it comes within five feet of its target, it explodes, causing a blast damage. Read The Defenders short story for more backgrounds about these mines.

  Damage: 1D20 SdaDP
  Speed: 30 MPH
Toughness: 1 DP; explodes when hit.

Mortar Droid

Speed: 30 mph

Stinger Droid

The Stinger Droid serves as the tank in Seph's personal army. It is completely automated. Its cyclop eye is really a heat sensor that can detect vehicles within a mile radius and detect lifeforms within 100 yards. Its tracks allow it to travel up to forty miles per hour.

On its back, a heavy cannon is allowed to pivot up, down, left, and right within 15 degrees. The plasma gun at the end of its tail is far more flexible and can shoot in all directions.

Speed: 40 mph
Toughness:

The Claws

A lifeform killing machine invented by the Febians to combat the Krusians. The Claws is a rolling sphere that senses heat signature of a warm body. On attack, the blades protruding from the sphere will attempt to cut its victim. The Febian soldiers carry a device called "Radiation Tab" to keep these automated robots at bay. It is the only way that The Claws can tell friend or foe.
