Ashvale - A Town in the Zombie Apocalypse World of Raven Cross

Ashvale is a town in a zombie apocalyptic world. It sits on the skeleton of an old industrial port, its skyline a jagged mix of rusted cranes, collapsed warehouses, and towering smokestacks that no longer breathe. The air smells faintly of salt, oil, and ash–remnants of the fires that tore through decades ago. It's one of the last “safe” enclaves in the wasteland, though “safe” is a word only fools use.

Environment & Atmosphere

Harbor Bones: The shoreline is a graveyard of ships–hulks stripped for metal or turned into floating shanties. The sea is dark and slick, reflecting dim lantern light from the town's edge.

The Foundry District: Twisted steel and cracked concrete define this heart of Ashvale. Fires burn in oil drums, providing warmth and light to traders, mercenaries, and drifters.

Grove Edge: Beyond the town walls, the earth still bears scars of past battles. Strangely, wild lemon trees have begun to spread here–rumored to be remnants of pre-war agricultural experiments.

Sky: Permanently overcast, with a faint orange hue from chemical haze. The nights are long, and the fog moves like something alive.

Culture & Inhabitants:

Scavenger Guild: The ruling faction–scrap barons, welders, and engineers who rebuild from ruin. Their leader, Grain Tallow, and guild members wear respirators or masks.

Landmarks:

Iron Chapel: A cathedral built from the ribs of ships and engine parts. Inside burns an eternal blue flame that never flickers, said to run on something not entirely human. It's the Silent Order's headquarter.

Crossroad Market: A maze of tents and welded scaffolds where anything can be bought–ammo, ration paste, relics, or loyalty. It's quite a rowdy place even in the middle of the night. It attract attention from the zombies, but Ashvale's factions have great security and hunting parties around its parameters. It doesn't mean the revenants doesn't get through from time to time, but they are immediately put down along with anyone else that are bitten.

Vein: A subterranean tunnel system beneath the town, part refuge, part tomb. Scavengers say the deeper tunnels hum with power no one understands.

Tone:

Every sound in Ashvale echoes–a scream, a bullet, a prayer. The people endure not because they believe in tomorrow, but because they refuse to let yesterday be the end.
